This sequence activates VISHUDDHA, the throat chakra. Vishuddha, the fifth chakra symbolized by the color blue, signifies cleansing. It is associated with the area of the vertebrae of the neck, larynx, ears, respiratory system and pit of the throat and is close to the thyroid gland. This is why it symbolizes the communication that it governs and the metabolism that it balances.
When Vishuddha is balanced, one makes good use of speech , one has a good ability to listen to oneself and others, and the thyroid gland is healthy.
Conversely, unbalanced Vishuddha results in fear of speaking and problems expressing his desires. This excess chakra results in incessant chatter, lies, flawless talk and aggressive communication.
Sankha mudra, the gesture of the conch also allows this chakra to be balanced. The two shell-shaped hands are placed on the sternum and at the same time we repeat the sound "Ommm" in our heads to let the song resonate in the conch of the hands to soften the throat and ensure our voice.
To work this chakra, the postures are targeted at the opening of the throat like Ustrasana, Matsyasana, Simhasana, Virabhadrasana III, ... or by contraction of the thyroid gland when the forehead is to be pressed on the knee or when the chin is stuck to the sternum like Dandayamana Janusirsasana, Salamba Sarvangasana, Niralamba Sarvangasana,….
