STRENGTHEN ITS IMMUNITY

BKS Iyengar, guru of Yoga Iyengar, was born to a mother suffering from the Spanish flu which gave him an unhealthy childhood but it is thanks to this that he came to practice yoga. It is by seeing the beneficial effects of yoga on his health that he decides to dedicate his life to teaching yoga thanks to which he has cured and saved millions of people from the disease around the world.

By studying the effects of postures, BKS Iyengar created two sequences (one morning and one for the evening) whose goal is to strengthen the student's immunity. Already at the time of the great spread of viruses such as the Spanish flu and the H1N1 virus, people were isolated to prevent the spread but it was quickly noted that not everyone who was exposed to the virus was affected. or did not necessarily need medication to recover. The point is that immunity plays a vital role and building a strong immune system reduces the chances of becoming prone to infections.

The two sequences created use specific asanas and are held for a given time to answer the question: "modern science is aware of the mechanism of construction of muscles and the cardiovascular system, but what about the immune system?". These "help to fight against a cold but also against bacteria and viruses especially when they are in the water and in the air."

For the scientific side, researchers at a university in California have proven that the practice of asanas and meditation leads to a reduction in the activity of proteins which are linked to the increase in inflammatory reactions of the immune system, inflammations which can contribute to chronic health problems.

Thanks to the hygiene of life in which the practice of yoga is gradually leading, the immune system is strengthened because the postures facilitate digestion during morning practices and cleansing and purification techniques of the body such as kriyas. Sleep , which has an essential role for our immunity, is easier to find due to the work of the muscles and letting go when practicing the postures. The body is less afraid of periods of stress because cortisol, a hormone generated during periods of stress and which paralyzes the cells of our immune system, is much less present in the body thanks to the moment of pause that we allow ourselves to take in the day to practice or to let our mind get away from everyday life. And finally, being more attentive to our body, our food is gradually changed and adapted to a simply healthier lifestyle.
