Vinyasa has this advantage that you can create postures that are not from traditional yoga. In this sequence we take the opportunity to practice the posture of the flying lizard!
But before talking about this posture itself, let's study a little Sanskrit to understand its name. Being a very recent posture, there is no proper name to name it entirely in Sanskrit. We then base ourselves on the posture Utthan Pristhasana translated as the posture of the lizard but in reality utthan means to stretch and pristhasana means the back of the body ... To keep it simple and name the posture of the flying lizard at best without getting too tangled up, we add in English the movement of the posture which is to fly which gives: Flying Utthan Pristhasana or more simply Flying Lizard or the flying lizard!
This posture strengthens the arms, the abdominal strap and the wrists. It helps to work the transfer of the weight of the body in the front of the tips of the fingers for the other postures in balance on the arms without awakening the fear of falling forward because the body is very close to the ground. It awakens the hind thighs which are well engaged to lift the back leg and clasp the arm with the front leg.
This posture gives confidence for all other balances and creates fun.
